Tips For Easy Removals
Moving house can be one of the most stressful things you will experience after getting married. It's not that the event itself is bad; in fact, moving, just like getting married, is one of the most wonderful things you'll ever get to do, but the organisation going into the logistics can be a nightmare without proper planning. Companies that specialise in removals are an invaluable tool in helping to get your wordly possessions from your old home to your new one, and they can save you heaps of time. However, there are a number of things you can do in order to speed up the process even more and even give the removal company a helping hand to save you time and money.
Labelling your boxes is a must. Sifting through boxes for essential items is going to be a real headache later on so try to attach lists to the top of each box. The list will contain all of the items that are currently stored inside, with the items on the bottom of the box written on the bottom and the items furthest towards the lid written at the top of the list. You should also make it very clear which room the box belongs too so that the removal company can drop it off straight away. If you have kids, get them involved. They can help to draw on the boxes, which will keep them occupied when packing.
Going in and out of the house can be time-consuming. However, if you take some old sheets and boxes, you can construct some makeshift walkways. They can be lined around the house and will help the removal company offload much quicker. They won't need to take off their boots if you have nice carpet or flooring, and it will minimise the risk of damage when carrying in furniture. It'll also save you a lot of time when cleaning up dust and debris later on.
If you're struggling with furniture bring some cheap frisbees or hard plastic camping plates with you and an old padded sheet. Furniture legs can be placed on the frisbees so they can be dragged across carpet without catching the weave, and heavier items like bookshelves can be placed on the sheet and pulled across hardwood floors. Both of these methods will protect your flooring and your back from any unnecessary strains, whilst giving the removal company a quicker option for offloading.
